PAP's Worst Campaign Ever!

This is a really poorly run campaign.

It is almost the end of the campaign period. Can anyone recall a single significant idea from the PAP? The PAP use of the media in a blatant bias fashion is just horrendous. Human beings have a limit for propaganda, they crossed the threshold Tthe Channel NewsAsia & Straits Times sounded like advertisement for the PAP...and even the most gullible person can tell. If you hear the same advertisement around the clock, you can really get irritated.....I think most people are disgusted!

They made the 1st mistake of taking CSJ out of the elections. That together with the lack of independent candidates give the media nothing negative about the opposition to focus on. In past elections, they will show CSJ all over the place because the PAP ruin his reputation a few years back, they usually use this strategy to discredit the whole opposition. They will also fill up the pages with reports on independents campaigning from the back of lorries etc to create the impression of a 'weak opposition'. But this year they took CSJ out early and there no independents. Now with nothing negative to focus on, the media plays the PAP propaganda day in day out. ...overdosing the electorate.

The bias media also drove people to the internet for information. The picture of the Hougang rally showing the enormous crowd gave people who saw it a measure of disparity of the straits times reporting and the reality. It gave people who didn't attend rally information they didn't have in past elections. The PAP move to control the Internet just before the elections failed completely because nobody gave a damn.

The other mistake is to play up the Gomez incident. That is a real loser strategy. The first day people felt Gomez is fishy. The next day when he apologised, the PAP should have moved on - goal already scored. But they harp on it exaggerating the incident. Even if Gomez was playing some kind of trick, there is hardly any hard evidence. The more they try to incriminate Gomez, the more they seem like prosecuting him. Low played a brilliant strategy of keep mum and moving on.

The only thing that the PAP is now can count on is the Upgrading threat. I believe that threat is still very effective because many Singaporeans still vote for their self interest especially those who are apolitical and apathetic. As much as I want to see more APs in parliament, I believe at the end of the day, Singaporeans are still Singaporeans - kiasi and kiasu. The PAP has created a population it can control easily and people will be controlled. The immense support for APs we see in this forum is not the real population sample. When people bother to seek the truth, they will naturally repel the PAP's form of government. It is the people who are not here who will lose it for the APs.
